*RMC15001 - 07/07/2009 - An ongoing code modernization project has * resulted in new versions of most ROPES * assembler routines. * *Problem Summary: * Some of the ROPES code has been in existence since before the * introduction of zArchitecture. In order to take advantage of the * improvements in maintainability offerred by the use of these * new instructions, all ROPES assembler modules containing * executable code have been revised, and where appropriate, have been * restructured. * *Symptoms: * None. * *Temporary Fix: * The following replacement object modules must be obtained from * technical support: * All ROPES object modules, * The following replacement source modules must be obtained from * technical support: * All ROPES macros that generate executable code. * *SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS: * * Object module ROPEBRIN is obsolte and no longer distributed. * * Module ROPEBIP, which is linked to application programs using the * ROPES Copy Books, is now reentrant. To do this, the two * reserved words in the ROPESPRM copy books for assembler, COBOL and * Pl1 have been assigned the names RPRMBIPW, ROPESPRM-BIPW and * ROPESPRM_BIPW, respectively, and RPRMPARM, ROPESPRM-PARM and * ROPESPRM_PARM, respectively. Note that RPRMPARM is only used in * in the assembler batch copy books. It is not referenced in the * COBOL and PL1 copy books. * * The CALL macro in the batch copy books has been replaced by the * code sequence required to make the copy book code reentrant. * * If you are not running a machine capable of executing zArchitecture * instructions, at Architecture Level 1, DO NOT apply these fixes or * upgrade to this release. Contacts Technical Support to report * your machine group and operating system level. * *Permanent Fix: * This enhancement will be distributed in the next release of * ROPES. * *End Of Document
